    Keep a torch beside the lead and use reflective or light-up walking gear. Bring cats home before dark.

    Have a towel ready to clean muddy paws. Pack fresh drinking water for walks so puddles are less tempting.

    Hide a favourite toy somewhere easy indoors and invite your dog to find it. Keep the game gentle, supervised and fun; stop if they lose interest.

Researchers are exploring blood proteins that could help improve how vets recognise chronic kidney disease in cats.

The team compared cats with kidney disease and healthy cats in two independent groups. Three proteins stood out as possible disease markers.

A clearer picture.

A marker is a measurable clue. These proteins could contribute to future ways of recognising kidney disease—a common problem in older cats.

More checking.

These are research candidates, not a home test or a cure. This study does not prove that they detect disease before current tests.
